The Honourable Phillip Watts, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, today welcomed members of Club Enterprise Basketball, including Head Coach Eric Knights, parents, and young athletes, during a courtesy visit at his office. The visit marked the clubβs 10th anniversary and provided an opportunity to highlight its remarkable contributions to youth development and community empowerment through sport.
Over the past decade, Club Enterprise Basketball has been a beacon of positive engagement within the Enterprise community. Managed by Coach Knights and supported by a dedicated team of parents, the club trains daily at the African Grounds in Enterprise, offering structured basketball development for over 30 boys and girls from Enterprise and surrounding areas.
This year alone, the club celebrated outstanding achievements both locally and internationally. Three athletes, ππ²π πππ²π¦π¨π§, πππ²πππ§ ππ¨π¨ππ«π¨πππ, ππ§π πππ₯π’π¬π¬π ππ’ππ«π«π, secured basketball scholarships to institutions in Canada and the United States. πππ₯π’π¬π¬π ππ’ππ«π«π also earned the distinction of being nominated Sportswoman of the Year by the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago (NBFTT), in recognition of her exceptional athletic performance and leadership.
Minister Watts commended the club for its consistent contribution to youth development through sport, noting that βinitiatives like Club Enterprise Basketball embody the true purpose of sport, to shape lives, build communities, and inspire excellence.β
